Every time I sit down to write one of these monthly recaps, I find myself amazed at how quickly time passes. It feels like April just started, and now it’s already over! As we move into a new month, I’m excited to share some of my favorite things from April 2021. From family-friendly TV shows to irresistible snacks, these are the things that made this month memorable for me.

Family Reunion (Season 3)

One of the highlights of April for me was watching Family Reunion, now in its third season. This hilarious show has become a favorite in my household because it’s something the entire family can enjoy together. It’s packed with laughs and features a star-studded cast, including the legendary Loretta Divine and Richard Roundtree. Tia Mowry-Hardrict, who many will remember from Sister, Sister, also stars in the show. I’ve followed her career for years, and it’s great to see her in this role. Alonzo Alibi, who plays the dad, adds even more comedic flair, and I first noticed him as the Coach on Raven’s Home. The children on the show—played by Talia Jackson, Isaiah Russell-Bailey, Cameron J. Wright, and Jordyn James—are equally talented and bring so much charm to the series. If you haven’t seen Family Reunion yet, all three seasons are available to stream on Netflix, and I highly recommend it for a fun family watch.

Boom Chicka Pop Dark Chocolate Flavored Drizzled Sea Salt Kettle Corn

Though I typically prefer savory snacks, one sweet treat that completely won me over this month was Boom Chicka Pop’s Dark Chocolate Flavored Drizzled Sea Salt Kettle Corn. This popcorn is the perfect blend of sweet and salty, with the rich taste of dark chocolate drizzled over the crunchy popcorn. I’m a huge fan of dark chocolate, and this snack did not disappoint! If you’re someone who enjoys a balance of flavors in your snacks, you’ve got to give this one a try. It’s so good that it’ll make you question why you haven’t had it sooner.

Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk

At first, I was hesitant to try Silk Dark Chocolate Almond Milk. I wasn’t sure if the combination would work or if it would be too sweet for my liking. However, after taking the first sip, I was pleasantly surprised. The almond milk is smooth and rich with a deep chocolate flavor that isn’t overwhelming. It’s sweet enough to satisfy a chocolate craving but still light and refreshing. Whether you’re pairing it with a meal or enjoying it on its own, it’s a delicious and healthy option. If you haven’t tried it yet, I highly recommend giving it a go.

Kenan

Another show I enjoyed this month was Kenan, starring Kenan Thompson. Having watched Kenan since his days on All That and Saturday Night Live, I was excited to see him in a new sitcom. Kenan centers around a recently widowed father who is balancing his professional career while raising his two daughters, with the support of family and friends. The show is both funny and heartwarming, and it struck the perfect balance between humor and real-life challenges. I’ve watched a few episodes and can confidently say that this sitcom is a must-watch, especially if you’re a fan of Kenan Thompson’s comedy.

Main Event

For Family Movie Night, my son picked out a film called Main Event, and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This Netflix movie is geared towards kids, especially those who love wrestling, but it kept me entertained as well. The story follows a young boy named Leo Thompson, played by Seth Carr, who dreams of becoming a wrestler. One of the best parts of the movie was seeing Tichina Arnold, an actress I’ve loved since her days on Martin and The Cosby Show, playing the spunky grandmother. While the movie is definitely aimed at a younger audience, I found it to be a fun family-friendly film, perfect for a cozy movie night with the kids.

Final Thoughts

That wraps up my list of favorite things from April 2021! Whether it was binge-watching Family Reunion with the family, indulging in some delicious Boom Chicka Pop, or discovering new shows and movies, it was a great month full of small joys.
